This article examines the pressing issue of assessing the impact of sanctions on the economic security of resource-rich regions of the Russian Federation, using the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra as an example. The relevance of the study is driven by increasing geopolitical instability, the unprecedented nature of sanctions restrictions on the oil and gas sector, and the Okrug's special role in generating federal budget revenues, which requires timely assessment of structural risks to regional and national economic security. The methodological basis of the study is theoretical approaches to assessing regional economic security using a system of macroeconomic and socio-budgetary indicators. The study found that the regional economy exhibits dual dynamics: growth in gross regional product, budget revenues, and declining unemployment are combined with a halving of fixed investment, a steady decline in the industrial production index, and a regression in real household income after 2021. This is directly related to restrictions on equipment supplies, reduced access to financial markets, and logistical barriers in the oil and gas sector. The theoretical significance of this study lies in testing a system of economic security indicators for a single-industry raw materials region under sanctions pressure. The practical significance lies in the potential use of the obtained results by regional government authorities in developing strategies for economic diversification, import substitution, and attracting investment in non-resource sectors.
