In the context of increasing global economic instability caused by geopolitical conflicts, technological transformations, environmental challenges, and increasing global interdependence, the search for effective mechanisms for managing socioeconomic systems has become particularly urgent. Traditional management approaches are increasingly unable to ensure sustainability and timely response to external changes, necessitating the development of adaptive management models. The goal of this study is to analyze modern adaptive management models for socioeconomic systems and assess their applicability in an unstable external environment. This study also aims to develop a conceptual model of adaptive management focused on ensuring economic security and sustainable development. The methodological basis of the study is comprised of systemic, situational, and cybernetic approaches, as well as comparative analysis, generalization, and systematization of scientific publications by Russian and international authors in the field of adaptive management and sustainable development of socioeconomic systems. The study identified key features of adaptive management and defined the main mechanisms for ensuring the sustainability of socio-economic systems, including environmental monitoring, scenario planning, digitalization of management, development of networked forms of interaction, and continuous management training. A comparative analysis of modern adaptive management models was conducted, identifying their advantages and limitations. A proprietary model of adaptive economic security management based on the principles of flexible strategic goals, digital integration, feedback, and continuous improvement of management decisions was proposed. The significance of the results lies in their potential use in formulating sustainable regional development strategies, implementing digital transformation programs, and improving economic security mechanisms. Prospects for further research include the development of quantitative methods for assessing the adaptability of socio-economic systems, improving digital tools for supporting management decisions based on artificial intelligence technologies, and testing the proposed model at the regional and industry levels.
